Kameron Helmuth, CFP®

Financial Advisor

Modeling wealth without regret means that I will do everything I can to help my family and other families I care about focus on what’s most important to them and enjoy the retirement they have worked so hard to achieve.

Kameron served as an advisor with PNC Bank and then State Bank from 2012-2019 before joining the team at Vestia. While Kameron appreciated the experience gained in his career with two exceptional banks, the independent Vestia platform allows him to provide a broader range of independent options and competitive solutions for his clients. He remains well connected in the banking community.

Kameron has built a niche working with small business owners and dentists. Whereas standard practice in other professions is to start out as an employee, dentists are almost expected to become small business owners, despite having no prior experience running a business. Kameron loves coming alongside dentists to guide them on the business and financial aspects of their practice, allowing them to focus on what they love – being world class dentists.

Kameron highly values a continual refining of his craft, which has led to a rich educational and training background in Financial Planning and Wealth Management. He graduated with his BS in Business Administration from International Business College in Fort Wayne, IN. He went on to become an Accredited Wealth Management Advisor® in 2017 and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ in 2018, and he isn’t stopping there! Kameron is currently pursuing his Chartered Financial Consultant® designation as well as a Masters of Science in Personal Financial Planning and Taxation.

Kameron and his wife Autum live in Huntertown with their two dogs Oakley and Kingston.

Tell us about something special from your youth.

One of the coolest things growing up for me was living next door to my grandparents. We would get together nearly every evening for dinner with them and some of our other neighbors.

Share an interesting story about your family.

My grandparents and extended family were born and raised Amish. We still get together regularly for family functions and I can even speak a bit of Dutch as a result.

Where have you worked? What is the best thing that has ever happened while you were working?

While working at a large bank, a bank customer who wasn’t my client had a flat tire. I didn’t think anything of it and helped her change the tire while wearing my suit. She was so thankful she turned it into the local newspaper and a colleague showed me I had made the paper and she eventually became a client!

While this was a neat memory, even more impactful to me were the friendships I’ve been able to build along the way. These friendships have been truly life changing.

What is the most important thing you’ve learned about helping other people?

I’ve learned that you have to start with a generous and open heart. When you give to others with no expectation of receiving, and help others before being asked, I’ve found that others are there to help you when you need them.

When did you first realize you were interested in finance?

While in college, I sat in on an estate planning meeting between my grandparents and their attorney. I was fascinated by the strategies available to improve their retirement position. I was immediately hooked.

What are you known for among your friends?

I’m best known for my BBQ cooking skills and sense of humor. I’ve been known for being light hearted from a young age. This came from growing up as the youngest in a family with 3 siblings. I found humor to be a great way to get attention in the family rather than being defiant. My BBQ passion started as a means of healing for my dad and me after my brother passed away. We’ve been competing together ever since 2016 and have won over 10 competitions.

What book do you always tell people they should read? Why?

Smart Couples Finish Rich – it’s a great way to open up conversation between spouses on the impact between savings versus spending and how to achieve a good balance in their life.

How do you spend your time outside of work?

I enjoy all kinds of cooking and spending time with my wife Autum and goldendoodles Oakley and Kingston. We also enjoy traveling together. I also love to exercise and have “Game Nights” most weekends.

One of Vestia’s values is to model “wealth without regret.” What does this mean to you?

I witnessed firsthand the financial and life stress that an illness can impose on a family due to a lack of planning. My grandfather worked for 45 years, and then my grandmother got dementia. He spent so much energy providing care for her that he ended up passing away before she did and never enjoyed retirement. Modeling wealth without regret means that I will do everything I can to keep that from happening to my family or any other family I care about.

I love doing what I do for people – taking the burden of finances and planning off their plate so they can focus on what’s most important to them.

At Vestia, we approach things differently than most financial firms. There’s intentionally no majority owner with their last name on the door. Instead, we have a full partnership track much like a law firm or medical practice might have.

These outstanding advisors support the work of our partners.
